'Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on' - Louis L'Armour
Hello there and welcome to my blog.
The blog is intended to be a reflection on my past, present and future experiences in education. From what I do and see on a day to day basis, to what is happening elsewhere in education and in the ether of the internet, I'm hoping it will help me to become more reflective and better at what I do.
Having been inspired by a friend's blog last year, I'm also writing the blog to connect with as many people in education as I can so that I can share and (ethically) steal ideas to try and be a better teacher and leader.
What it means to connect with other teachers and leaders has massively changed since I qualified as a teacher. Back then, it meant one of two things: trawling through the TES website looking for a decent resource so I could get my marking finished, or sending a Facebook message to a teacher friend from another school to ask for said resource so I could get my marking finished.
Having learnt so much from reading other blogs and journeying through the wild, untamed jungle of Twitter, I'm writing in the hope that I can add something to the sphere of discussion.
I'm trying very hard not to make promises that there will be 5,000 resources and a post a minute, but I will be updating fairly regularly and making any resources that have made a difference to what I do available for download.
I'll also be regularly adding and updating any literature that I've come across that has helped to shape my teaching. Another reason for starting the blog is that it is all too easy to get bogged down in the world of a single classroom. Hopefully this blog will motivate and enthuse me to engage with the world of innovative literature and ideas out there!
Thanks for reading, and I'd love to hear your thoughts via email or on the social medias @jonnykayteacher
